Our mission is to crush pediatric cancer by empowering our community to collectively conquer this devastating disease, afflicting infants, children and young adults.
As a leukemia survivor, I decided several years ago to establish CancerCrusher, a non-profit foundation, which aims to raise awareness and funding for pediatric cancer patients and their families. The foundation was launched in 2008 with numerous initiatives including organizational alliances, special programs and innovative fundraising events.
I have vowed to do whatever I can to continue to fundraise to support this crucial research and ultimately help find a cure so that no parent ever has to hear those dreaded words, “your child has cancer.”
The CancerCrusher Foundation continues to provide funding, hope and light for these families in their darkest of days.
We invite you to help us in our continuing efforts to support the children afflicted with cancer and their families in their resolve to conquer this heartrending disease.
-Amanda McKean Brown
CancerCrusher Foundation President & Founder
Amanda McKean Brown was inspired to create the CancerCrusher Foundation through her personal battle with childhood leukemia, and has been working ever since she was a teenager to raise awareness and advocate for pediatric cancer patients and survivors.
She was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) on December 26, 1992 just a few months after her second birthday. Amanda was treated at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center by an incredible team of doctors and nurses, along with the remarkable support of family and friends, who all came together to help her fight and ultimately win her battle. Amanda’s mission in creating the CancerCrusher Foundation is to help all of those fight their ongoing battle against pediatric cancer.
Since its inception in 2008, the CancerCrusher Foundation has been committed to advocating for pediatric cancer patients and their families. In the process, the foundation has raised over $500,000 to support various cancer organizations, including Make-A-Wish, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS), Monmouth Medical Center, and “I’m Too Young for This.”
Amanda graduated from Fairfield University in May 2013, as a Communication major, with a Marketing and English double minor. She currently lives in New Jersey with her husband Taylor, and their two daughters Georgia and Cece!
Amanda works at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as an Event Manager in the Development Department, fulfilling her lifelong goal to help give back to the hospital that saved her life. Today, as an MSK employee, Amanda witnesses first-hand what a profound impact philanthropic funds have on pediatric patients and their families and we are grateful for your interest and support!
Check out this fun video where Amanda was featured on the
TODAY Show for her continued work with Cycle for Survival.
The CancerCrusher Foundation has proudly partnered with Threads Too Needlepoint Shop in Fair Haven, New Jersey to create a special project to benefit pediatric cancer patients and their families being treated at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
During this season of giving, we thought it would be a fun opportunity for Threads Too customers to stitch a few lines into the beautiful Colors of Paradise canvas (pictured to. the right) that will be turned into a big lucite tray. The tray will then be donated and auctioned off at the CancerCrusher Tea Party Luncheon at Navesink Country Club on Sunday, May 4, 2025 to raise money to help fund groundbreaking pediatric cancer research being done at MSK.
We hope you can stop by Threads Too and join us in stitching a few lines to support this amazing cause!
Any/all donations are greatly appreciated!
The unprecedented level of support from the community, speaks to what an inspired group can accomplish when brought together to fight the battle against pediatric cancer.
